When Monica Samuels first opened Quasar Quantum Healing in January 2021, there was a space on the property that she didn’t know how to utilize.

A few months after being in business, her daughter Alana came to her with the simple idea of turning the unused space into a yoga studio.

Monica took the idea even further.

“When my mom opened the Wellness Center, she wanted to incorporate wellness practices like yoga and she opened the studio because she wanted to also have a Himalayan salt cave,” Alana said.

“She’s always been interested in like the people of the Himalayas and how they don’t age and how they don’t have diseases. So, she did a little bit of research on that and saw that it was possible to import salt from Himalayan salt caves. So, she said ‘yoga, Himalayan salt and wellness, let’s just do it.’”

After getting the go-ahead on creating what would become “The Studio,” Alana began ordering Himalayan salt to fill her studio with along with cork flooring.

However, the process of getting salt proved to be more arduous than she initially anticipated.

“The salt was imported from Pakistan and took six months to get and then a couple more to build,” Alana said.

Because the salt had been sitting on containers for so long, Alana said that it had to be further crushed down once it was unpacked and either spread across the floor or shaped into blocks to create the cave.

Once the studio was completed its construction, Alana said the space came into its own as a place of serene relaxation.

“Himalayan salt has a bunch of wellness properties with the main one being negative ions that produce an energizing effect in the human body and filter out the air by attaching to the water particles in the air and filtering out impurities,” she said.

“The way that the actual cave looks and feels is pleasing and when people are actually in the cave, they feel calm and then after being in the cave for a while, they start to feel an energizing effect. I always say that negative ions kind of produce that energizing effect that’s similar to being out in nature for a couple of hours.”

The Studio began inviting patrons into the cave in May and has held myriad events, ranging from yoga classes of about 15 people to team bonding activities and business meetings.

“The purpose of the studio is actually to have a rental studio for classes and events,” Alana said. “People can do anything in the wellness sphere or they can even do like bachelorette parties or team bonding activities.”

The space has received rave reviews among those who have visited it so far.

“Everyone loves it and every single person that comes in is just kind of in awe of the space,” Alana said. “They really enjoy just the energy of being in there, and a lot of the class attendees will go in and chill out in the salt cave for a couple of minutes or so.”

Despite attracting a similar clientele as her mother’s space, Alana finds it interesting that there is not a striking overlap between the customers who visit both spaces.

“It’s funny because we don’t see a ton of overlap in the clients, because most of my clients are yoga teachers, instructors or people who want to host events, and then a lot of the people that go to Quasar Quantum Healing just want to get healed,” Alana said. “It really is a building that split in half,” she added with a laugh.

Quasar Quantum Healing and The Studio are located at 14809 N 73rd St. Any special accommodations or questions can be answered by contacting Alana Samuels at adyoga@quasarquantumhealing.com or visiting quasarquantumhealing.com.
